Earthing also known as Grounding, is simply connecting your body directly to the subtle, natural electrical energy that exists on the surface of the Earth. 

You can do this by walking barefoot outside or by using "barefoot substitutes" like the ones we teach you about on our site. These original Earthing Harmony grounding products work by utilizing the ground port of home outlets or a simple ground rod kit to connect you to the Earth's energy. 

Earthing Harmony products have the conductive materials which enables them to transfer the Earth's energy into your body when you have skin contact with them.

Earthing and Grounding both refer to the act of reconnecting to the Earth's subtle, natural energy. Both terms are often used interchangeably. 

However, some people differentiate between the two by using "Earthing" to describe the practice of connecting the body to the Earth's surface with direct skin contact, such as by walking barefoot on the ground. "Grounding" can also refer to the process of connecting an electrical device to the Earth to prevent electrical shocks and other hazards, which is a different context altogether. While this differentiation may be relevant to your electrician or engineer, for most people, the terms can be used interchangeably when referring to the practice of connecting to the Earth's surface for health and wellness benefits. 

Reconnecting to the Earth's energy is as easy as walking barefoot outside in the grass or sand or on concrete.

Most customers stick with their regular size. However, if you’re in between sizes, we generally recommend sizing down for the best fit.

All of our shoes are designed in the barefoot style, meaning they have a wider toe box, flat sole, and no padding—all intended to encourage natural movement and foot strength. Because of this, they may fit slightly differently than traditional shoes.

Note: Our Women’s Ballet Flats run more snug than other styles, so we don’t recommend sizing down in this design.

The shoes will naturally stretch over time, especially if the fit is snug initially. The leather tends to stretch most where there is gentle pressure, gradually molding to your feet and providing a more personalized, comfortable fit with wear.

For the best fit, we recommend starting with a snug feel, as the leather will soften and adapt as you wear the shoes.

Our shoes are made with full top grain leather, so they require a bit of care to keep them looking and feeling their best- just like any quality leather footwear.

Here’s how to clean and maintain them:

● For everyday cleaning: Use a soft, dry or slightly damp cloth to gently wipe off any dust or dirt.

● For deeper cleaning: Use a leather cleaner or saddle soap applied with a soft cloth. Test a small area first to ensure it doesn’t affect the finish.

● To condition: Apply a natural leather conditioner from time to time to keep the leather soft and prevent drying or cracking.

● Avoid: Submerging the shoes in water or using harsh soaps or chemicals. Also, try to avoid extended exposure to heavy rain or snow, as leather is a natural material and not fully waterproof.

● Drying tips: If they get wet, let them air dry naturally—away from direct heat sources like radiators or sunlight, which can cause the leather to warp or dry out.

With proper care, your Earthing Harmony shoes will only get better with time, molding beautifully to your feet and lasting for years to come.

For optimal grounding, we recommend wearing your EH shoes barefoot. This allows for the best direct contact between your skin and the leather insole, as well as the copper rivet embedded in the sole- which is key to facilitating the grounding connection.

Our shoes are made from breathable top grain leather, making them comfortable to wear barefoot, even for extended periods.

However, if you prefer to wear socks, we suggest choosing thin, natural materials like cotton or hemp, which may still allow for some conductivity- especially if the socks are light and breathable.

Ultimately, it’s about what works best for your comfort while still supporting your grounding goals.
